Sharon

Sharon brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of music education and performance. Ms. Sharon's formal musical training earned her a degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. She is a licensed Musikgarten instructor where she trained with Lorna Heyge, the founder of Musikgarten, 19 years ago. She has also completed her Kodaly Level 2 training.

Originally from the small rural town of Mckenzie, TN, Sharon moved to Chattanooga 13 years ago. She has two children, Dakota, 21, and Julia, 18. During her season as a stay-at-home mom, she always stayed involved in a variety of performance, teaching, and learning environments. She has sung with the Chattanooga Symphony Chorus, the Chattanooga Bach Choir, Choral Arts Society of Chattanooga, and several local churches, working as a Choral Soprano. Her musical interests have turned to exploring old time folk music, bluegrass and jazz, as she sings with the local groups she co-founded, The Campfire Girls and The Greater Tuna Hot Club.

Sharon has taught Early Childhood Music classes at the Mountain Arts Community Center, has directed the younger childrens choirs at St. Timothys Episcopal Church on Signal Mountain, TN and teaches music at the Montessori School of Cleveland, Tennessee. She also teaches private piano and voice.
