Jan is the owner and director of Musik to Grow since its conception in 1991, offering music classes and music therapy in the Cobb County community for young children. It’s purpose is to help children, teachers and parents grow with music.
Jan is adjunct faculty of Kennesaw State University since Summer 2008. She is Past President of the international Early Childhood Music & Movement Association whose mission is to promote best practices in all areas of early childhood music and movement. She specifically served with the Editorial Committee developing publications.
She is a Board Certified Music Therapist and specializes in working with young children with developmental delays, sensory processing disorders and autism. She is certified in NICU Music Therapy which specializes in working with premature infants. Jan completed a Masters in Education through the Lesley University, Integrated Teaching through the Arts Program. She earned a Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and a Bachelors of Theology, with emphasis in leadership training from The Way College of Biblical Research, Emporia Kansas. Jan is certified to teach all Musikgarten curricula, and holds ECMMA Certification Level III, and Orff Schulwerk Level II. Jan’s experience and education indicates her passion for music and the young child.
